Directions
Firstly please note there are two Shieldaig's in the area! We are the one on Loch Torridon.
Secondly the quickest way to get to us from Edinburgh or Glasgow is to go up the A9 to Inverness, but this is not the prettiest route!
Directions from Inverness
(approx time 1½ hours)
Take the A9 North following the signs for Ullapool. Continue following signs for Ullapool, turning left at a roundabout onto the A835. Just after Garve leave the Ullapool road and turn left onto the A832 signed to Achnasheen. At Achnasheen take the right fork at the roundabout, signed for Gairloch and Kinlochewe. At Kinlochewe turn left to Torridon on the A896 and continue on this road (past the Torridon turn off) until you see a sign for Shieldaig - come into the village and we are in the middle on the sea front.
NB - Turns marked in red are easy to miss!
To get to the A9 from the airport follow signs to Inverness - you will go straight across a roundabout with a big Tesco ans then the next roundabout is the A9 and you will go right heading for the North and Ullapool.
Directions from Fort William
Take the A82 North out of Fort William to Spean Brige where you turn left to Invergarry, keeping on the A82. At Invergarry turn left onto the A87 to Kyle of Lochalsh. Just before Kyle, turn right onto the A890 to Loch Carron. At the T junction turn left onto the A896 to Loch Carron and follow this road to Shieldaig (a left turn into the village).
Directions from the North West
Come down the A832 past Gairloch to Kinlochewe, then pick up the directions above from Kinlochewe (directions from Inverness section).
Train
Our nearest train stationis Strathcarron (on the Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh line). A bus meets the morning and lunch time trains and brings you directly to the hotel. Alternatively we will be happy to pick you up.
Airport
Our nearest airport is Inverness (approx 1¾ hours away).
